Speak-Up School (preschool-K)
Speak-Up School is a special school for deaf children with a focus on learning to speak without use of sign language. The goal is to enable children to function in a typical classroom socially, emotionally and academically. We are looking for typically-developing children in the 18mos-6 year old age range to provide spoken language models and encourage good social skills. The hearing peers get the benefit of small class sizes and an enriched language environment. The curriculum is aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning as well as recommendations of the NAEYC.
