U.S. Veteran Davis, David W. COTTAGE GR0VE, WI.

David Winningham Davis, MD, age 81, died on Monday, December 8, 2008 at his home surrounded by his wife and children. He was born on September 8, 1927 in Omaha, NE, the son of David and Helen Davis. After graduating from Central High School and serving in the Navy, he obtained his medical degree at University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Omaha. Upon completing his residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, he practiced medicine as a Board-certified pediatrician for thirty-five years in Kenosha, WI. He was also a founder of the Kenosha Montessori School and active in civic causes. When he retired, he moved to the countryside outside of Madison, WI. Friends will remember David as an avid fly fisherman, squash and tennis player, who enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and geology, and most valued spending time with family and friends, including his sheepdog Bubba, who was a constant companion. He is survived by his wife, Catherine McCormick Davis, his four children and stepson, and eleven loving grandchildren, Nina (Christopher Dadian) and children Silvia and Kai of St. Louis, MO; David (Cindy) and children David, Jared and Sarah of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; John (Mary) and children Anna, Jack and Adam of Ypsilanti, MI; James (Carrie) and children Audrey and Nina of Naperville, IL; Travis Primmer (Tracy), and son Guy of Kenosha, WI. Friends and family are invited to a gathering in memory of David’s life at his home, on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, from 1 pm until 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to a charity of choice.

A Montessori Material will be purchased in his memory for use in the Pre-School classroom.
